Likuena, as the Lesotho senior team is affectionately known, has been without a head coach since the departure of Thabo Senong late last year.<\/p>\n
The Association\u2019s Technical Director Leslie Notsi has been overseeing the team\u2019s preparations for the upcoming 2023 preliminary round qualifiers against Seychelles scheduled for March.<\/p>\n
LeFA\u2019s Secretary General Mokhosi Mohapi stated that he is not surprised with the huge influx of applicants for the Lesotho coaching job.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving been in football for many years, it has not surprised me at all that there have been so many applicants. This has been as a result of probably the ongoing pandemic which has rendered redundancy at either Club level or even some national teams,\u201d the LeFA Secretary General stated.<\/p>\n
\u201cNormally when there are such openings, there is a huge influx of applicants and our case has not been any different. We hope to have completed the entire process by next week.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Association announced that out of the over 100 applications, there are six local coaches and with majority of the applications coming from European countries such as England, Holland, Serbia, Italy, France as well as South Americans.<\/p>\n
The lists includes coaches from South Africa, Ghana, Mozambique and Zambia, who some were at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.<\/p>\n
One of the major requirements for the job is that interested parties should be in a possession of the CAF A License coaching qualification or equivalent.<\/p>\n
Such a coach, LeFA further indicated that should have coached at club level or the national team in continental competitions for at least seven years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
