The move to take Likuena matches to Soweto comes after Setsoto Stadium, was suspended by CAF late last year for failure to comply with the required standards to host international matches.<\/p>\n
LeFA Secretary General, Mokhosi Mohapi, said they picked the Dobsonville Stadium because it had proved a happy hunting ground for its national team with their last match being a 3-0 victory over South Africa in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers in 2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe as the Lesotho Football Association have one foot in the journey to our dream of competing in Africa\u2019s premier nations competition. I had the belief that the stadium would make it based on what we had gone through and submitted to CAF,\u201d Mohapi said.<\/p>\n
\u201cNonetheless, we had left our options open just in case. But one thing I knew, we would host Seychelles in Soweto. If the Dobsonville Stadium were not to make it, Orlando Stadium would not be a bad option.\u201d<\/p>\n
Likuena will face Seychelles in back-to-back ties as the two countries battle it out to secure a spot in the group stage qualifiers of the tournament scheduled for Ivory Coast in 2023.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe reason why we preferred Dobsonville as the LeFA leadership, is akin to loyal customer. He will rather go to a restaurant, which serves them with the meals that are cooked to their preference,\u201d adds the LeFA SG.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn other words, if anything as the Lesotho Football Association and speaking on behalf of the football family in Lesotho, the Dobsonville Stadium has proven to be our happy hunting ground.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have managed some rather interesting results at the venue. We have won crucial matches at the same facility and we are hopeful as the Association that the success will continue at the Stadium,\u201d he said,<\/p>\n
