The Serbian born coach has picked a squad dominated by new faces, but has also kept experienced campaigners such as Motebang Sera, who became Lesotho\u2019s all-time leading goal scorer at the COSAFA Cup during the 2021 edition of the tournament.<\/p>\n
Likuena, as the Lesotho side is affectionately known, will get their campaign underway against Malawi in Group B that also has Eswatini and Mauritius.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur ambition is to go as far as we can in the competition, but we know it will not be easy because all the teams have the same goal and some of them have better CAF and FIFA rankings,\u201d Jelusic told a media briefing on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will have the same approach as we did recently against Comoros and Ivory Coast because we respect all the teams, but in all games, we will give our best to get the best possible results.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jelusic stated that he is happy with their preparations thus far and is looking forward to his first COSAFA tournament in charge of Lesotho.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding the time and our preparations, I\u2019m satisfied with the preparations and support that we have received from the Association,\u201d the Lesotho coach said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe initially started with the list of 30 players, but we had to cut the team to the final 23 as per the regulations of the tournament and we are happy with the work covered.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t feel under any pressure. I hope as I said, that we will have good performances, but we know our opponents are very tough and at the same time, they will have tough games against us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
