Nedbank Lesotho has announced an increased sponsorship for the 2024 edition of the Nedbank 8 tournament that will kick-off on May 4 at Bambatha T\u0161ita Sports Arena.<\/p>\n
The announcement was made by Nedbank Lesotho Communications and Marketing Manager, Sekonyela Matamane during the launch of this year\u2019s at Lesotho Football Association headquarters on Friday.<\/p>\n
Nedbank Lesotho has been sponsorship both the Nedbank 8 and Champions of Champions since 2019 and has now increased the sponsorship money from M250,000 to M350,000.<\/p>\n
The tournament will be headlined by Mzamane FC and Majantja FC, who are bidding farewell to the A Division after winning the single automatic spot in North and Southern stream.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur partnership with LeFA has continued to grow from strength to strength despite going a short break during the covid pandemic, but we are proud of the progress made,\u201d Matamane said at the launch.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a very big year, it\u2019s a year in which Lesotho celebrates 200 years and Nedbank Lesotho has been weighing its option on how it gives back to its community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Matamane stated that the tournament has become as success that they celebrate as Nedbank Lesotho and they are fond of the progress made working hand in hand with the Lesotho Football Association.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are here, and I know the headline is all about the numbers. We are grateful that LeFA continues to open its doors for us as well as our plans to interact with Basotho through football.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe records will say that in the past year, we sponsored this competition to the tune of M250,000 and when we put the numbers down this year, we have M350,000.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat says we have increased the sponsorship with M100,000 to make improvements to the tournament and the breakdown of prizemoney will follow as we continue to work on finer details of the tournament with the A Division Management Committee,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, LeFA Secretary General Mokhosi Mohapi, expressed gratitude to Nedbank Lesotho for its continued support to the LeFA and warned clubs to pay attention to the rules and regulations that govern football.<\/p>\n
\u201cIts not long that we had a tournament that left us with sour grapes as the football fraternity and continue to swim in that even now as we try to clean up the mess,\u201d Mohapi said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI therefore want to warn our clubs that are part of this competition to pay attention to the rules and regulations that govern football in the country from today to the first game of the tournament.<\/p>\n
\u201cLets us make our sponsors and ourselves proud by making this tournament as a success,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The LeFA Secretary General sentiments were echoed by the A Division Management Committee (ADMACO), Chairman Ramatla Ramatla, who thanked Nedbank Lesotho for its continued support to LeFA.<\/p>\n
\u201cIts been a while that we have travelled this journey with Nedbank Lesotho through this competition, we call Nedbank 8, which is very important tournament to us as the football fraternity,\u201d Ramatla said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe A division has two streams, which is the north and south and its never easy for these teams to come up against each, but Nedbank has made it easy for us to have this competition to have the best teams from the two streams.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a very unique competition that brings value to our football and we thank Nedbank Lesotho for being able to stage this tournament and also increasing the sponsorship for this year\u2019s tournament,\u201d the ADMACO Chairman said.<\/p>\n
