Lebina on cloud nine with Likuena call-up
LCS striker Hlomelang Lebina is over the moon after being handed his first ever senior national team call up by the new Likuena technical team made of Leslie Notsi and Bob Mafoso.
The coaching duo, who previously worked together leading the Lesotho national u-20 side to the final of the COSAFA Youth Championship in 2017, have made several changes to the Likuena squad bringing in several new faces like Lebina, Thabo Lesaoana, Ts’eliso Botsane as well as Thabiso Mari.
The 21-year-old had a dream season in the Vodacom Premier League finishing the 2022/23 campain as the joint top goal-scorer with Jane Thabants’o after each player scored 15 goals.
“It was a very exciting moment for me when I received the news of the call up. However, the first day training with the team was very difficult as I was a bit scared,” the forward stated.
“That improved with my second day training with the team maybe because of teammates from LCS, who are part of the Likuena squad. I think I was a bit relaxed and it will surely get better with each day as I continue to train with the team.
“The rest of squad was very helpful in terms of helping me settle into the new environment.”
