Lesotho coach Notši calls for consistency from his charges
Lesotho coach Leslie Notši has called for consistency from his charges ahead of the TotalEnergies 2025 Africa Cup of Nations fixtures against the Central African Republic and Morocco respectively.
“Likuena”, as the Lesotho national team is affectionately known, will open their Group B campaign against the Wild Beasts, who will host the match at the Stade El Abdu in El Jadida, Morocco on Thursday.
Lesotho will then switch their focus to their second fixture of Group B, where they will take on the hosts of the 2025 continental showpiece Morocco at the Agadir Stadium on Monday, September 9th.
Notši feels his side has proved before that they have what it takes to give the continent’s powerhouses a run for their money as they have frustrated the likes of Cote D’Ivoire and Nigeria in recent months and will have to dig deep to do it against their Group B opponents.
“Looking at this group, which we consider a very tough group against the giants of Africa in Morocco, Gabon and CAR, it’s a very difficult one, where we need to dig deep and work harder than before, Notši said.
“We should embrace this opportunity of playing at the higher level, which we believe that we can make it, but at the same time respect all the countries we are going to play against knowing that they have some of the best players in Africa, who play at the highest level.
The Lesotho coach admitted that Morocco will be the team to beat in Group B based on their good performance at the 2022 World Cup as well as the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
“Regarding the three opponents, there isn’t one I would say would be easy to play against because there are no longer teams that you would say are smaller than others,” Lesotho coach said.
“Yes, Morocco is going to be the most difficult. Why am I saying that? We have seen how they performed in the last Afcon, World Cup as well as the Olympics. They have some of the best players in Africa and it’s going to be very tough, Gabon have always been a competitive team and Central African also.
“We have to approach the matches with all the respect they deserve, but we believe in ourselves and confident we can come up with something to show the improvement in our team,” he said
