Lesotho goalkeeper dreams of Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup title
Lesotho goalkeeper Sekhoane Moerane has called on his teammates to use their recent performance against Ivory Coast as the motivation to challenge for the COSAFA Cup title.
The 24-year-old goalminder admitted that all eyes will be on Veselin Jelusic side after frustrating the Elephants to a goalless draw in the recent 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Likuena will bid to reach the COSAFA Cup final for the first time since 2000, where they lost to Zimbabwe in a two legged final.
“I really think that as Lesotho, we have what it takes to go all the way and fight for the trophy in the final. It is my wish to help my country win this tournament,” the goalkeeper said.
“For me, the tournament is a good platform for us players to impose our talents and show international scouts what we can do.”
Lesotho will begin their 2022 Hollywoodbets COSAFA cup campaign against Malawi on Wednesday and the goalkeeper wants his teammates to be fearless in their approach.
“We have to be fearless and play to the best of our abilities. We must maintain the performance we displayed against Ivory Coast,” Moerane stated.
“It’s a challenge for us the players to show the togetherness, commitment and fighting spirit that we showed in the recent match against a powerhouse in the continent.
“The ball is in our court as the players to rewriting the history books of football in the country by winning this tournament,” he said.
