Lesotho unveils new Umbro kit for national teams
The Lesotho Football Association in partnership with renowned sportwear manufacturer Umbro have unveiled the new and stylish kit for its senior men and women national teams.
The new design marks the third edition of a successful collaboration between LeFA and Umbro which features on-field and off field attire for the teams as well as home, away friendly matches replica for the supporters.
The fresh kit comes as part of a new three-year contract with Umbro and comes with improved terms compared to the first deal between the two parties.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, LeFA President Advocate Salemane Phafane (KC) emphasised the importance of aligning the national teams’ image with their ambitions on the global stage while keeping the identity.
“The national team kit is a big thing because it is a sign that differentiates who you are from others. It is not just about wearing the kit. To us it is a flag, and we respect it. Of course, above everything, it’s the national flag,” Advocate Phafane said.
“We agreed that even if we improve and change, we should not abandon our identity, and that’s the first edition of our jersey, we don’t want to go far away from it.
“These kits are more than just uniforms; they symbolise our national pride and the spirit of football in Lesotho. With Umbro’s expertise, we are confident our teams will stand out both in appearance and performance.”
The LeFA President stated that their relationship with Umbro started in 2019 and has grown from strength to strength in recent years.
“The relationship between LeFA and Umbro started in 2019 with the first edition of the striped kit which was revised in 2023 though still keeping a similar design. The continued relationship over the years is said to be due to integrity and respect that the company has for the Lesotho Football governing body.
“We are proud that we have established a relationship with a company that respects us and not only take us for a ride, which also helps us because they do not only supply us with jerseys but whenever we run out of match balls, we tell them, and they immediately provide us a consignment of match balls for free. They help us a lot.”
The home kit features white colours with Lesotho’s iconic blue and the green colours striped on the chest, paying homage to the nation’s flag.
The away kit has a similar design with the iconic blue that has white and green stipes and friendly kits explore a similar design with the dominant green with blue and white stripes colour combinations that bring a contemporary flair to the national teams’ look.
The new design has kids’ replicas are available along with special cuts for women and they all sell for M600.
