The Lesotho Football Association Senior National team, Likuena has moved up nine places in the latest FIFA rankings following impressive displays against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

The Leslie Nots’i’s coached side concluded their 2026 World Cup Qualifiers with a 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe to complete a rare double over the Warriors having beaten them 2-0 in the first leg encounter.

Zimbabwe had become a hoodoo team for Likuena in 24 meetings since 1986, where Likuena registered only two victories out of 24 including denying Lesotho the opportunity to lift their maiden COSAFA Cup title in 2000.

Likuena concluded their group phase in fourth position with a record of 12 points, the most ever in the qualifiers of a major continental competition.

Hlompho Kalake netted the solitary goal of the bench to hand Lesotho the three points over Zimbabwe, which game three days after the experienced midfielder netted against Nigeria in the 2-1 defeat.
