Lintša on cloud nine with Likuena call-up
Vodacom Premier League Top Goal-scorer Lemohang Lintša is over the moon to have made a return to the national team set-up ahead of 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda.
The Limkokwing University FC captain had a dream first season playing top-flight football, where he beat seasoned campaigners such as Jane Thabants’o and Tumelo Khutlang in the race for the Golden boot.
Lintša admitted that winning the race for the Golden boot is not enough for him to rest on his laurels as playing for the national team demands more effort competing with seasoned footballers that have been playing international football for years.
“I’m very happy to have been called back into the national team. I was part of the set-up two years ago while still in the A Division and to be called back again is a big honour for me as a player,” Lintša said.
“This comes after a very big season for me, where I have had to work hard to be the top goal-scorer in my first season playing in the Premier league.
“I’m very excited to be honest knowing that the coach of the senior national team handed me a call up, which is an indication that I made a good impression playing for my club.
The Mohale’s Hoek born forward has vowed to put an extra effort in the training group to keep his place in the squad.
“This is a challenge for me to continue working hard and give more commitment because I have been here before and I know how difficult it can be in the national team,” the lanky forward said.
“Being the top goal-scorer in the domestic league counts for nothing at this level and I have to dig deeper to make a meaningful contribution to the team.
“But I’m very happy with the call-up, finishing the season as the top goal-scorer in my first season in the top league. It’s a blessing I can’t even describe, but it’s very satisfying when you are rewarded for the hard work you put in throughout the season,” he said.
