Mafoso: Likuena is the growth most of us aspire for
Bob Mafoso, who has been roped in as the assistant coach to Leslie Notsi for the Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup, says he is honoured to be part of the Likuena’s technical team for regional tournament.
The last time the two coaches were on a national team assignment together, they reached the final of the COSAFA U-20 Championship held in Zambia in 2017, where they lost 2-1 to Thabo Senong coached Amajita side boasting the likes of Lyle Foster.
Mafoso joins the Likuena’s technical team after ending the Vodacom Premier League season on a high note with Bantu, winning a double of the Vodacom Premier League and People’s Cup titles having replaced Moeketsi Abram Mongoya as the coach of the Mafeteng based outfit.
“I think it has been a great period of my coaching career. I have since seen that those that come with much pressure are the ones that make one grow more in the game,” Mafoso stated.
“We all want to make a difference where we can and I feel honoured to be part of the team, on this interim basis, it is growth that most of us aspire for.”
Mafoso is adamant that their pairing with experienced Notsi can produce magic again for Lesotho to emulate the success achieved in 2017 while they oversaw the national U-20 team, Makoanyane XI.
“That is the target, we have agreed that we want to give it our best. The players who are very key towards this objective, have also been very dedicated to the course,” the Likuena assistant coach added.
“We think there is potential to go as far as we can with this group of players. Most of them have the international experience, we have a coach who has been in these situations before, so the signs are good.” He said.
