Mothoana, Mokhehle greatful with TDS opportunity
Former national team stars Bokang ‘Lefty’ Mothoana and Thapelo ‘Thenda’ Mokhehle have expressed their gratitude to the Lesotho Football Association for their involvement in the Talent Development Scheme, where they were roped in to assist in the talent identification of young players.
Mothoana, a former Likuena captain came through the ranks playing for the junior national teams before he was promoted to the senior team.
His career took him as far as playing and captaining Union Sportive Monastir in Tunisia and was part of the first ever Lesotho Under-20 side to qualify for the African Youth Championship.
“It was a very fruitful exercise with abundance of talent coming from our country,” Mothoana stated.
“Meeting with other coaches and talking about the talent we have at the grassroots level was an eye opener.”
Mokhehle, who won over 50 caps for his country and came through the ranks playing for the junior teams, expressed his delight at being given the opportunity to work with young players, who he feels are the future for Lesotho football.
The former Matlama and Bantu stated that it was exciting to work with the young players, who he feels have a bright future ahead of them.
“It was a great experience for me getting the opportunity to work with experienced coaches like Shalane Lehohla and Motolo Makepe as well as my former teammate, Mothoana,” Mokhehle explained.
“As for the kids, we were all stunned with how talented these boys are and I have no doubt that if they continue to play and develop, then our country is in safe hands,” he said.
