Notsi adds Mafatle to Likuena squad
Likuena interim coach Leslie Notsi has beefed up his provisional squad with the addition of Lijabatho midfielder Thabo Mafatle after impressive displays for the Morija based outfit in the Vodacom Premier League.
The national team has been hard at work in preparation for their upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations preliminary round qualifiers against Seychelles.
The two countries will face-off over two legs in March with the winner guaranteed a spot in the group stage of the qualifiers for the continental showpiece to be staged in Ivory Coast.
“Mafatle has been impressive for his team in the league and the technical team decided to give him a chance to see what he can offer at this level,” the Likuena coach stated.
“Like we said, the door is open for any player that will raise his hand as we continue to monitor and watch league games across the country.”
The veteran gaffer expressed his gratitude to all the premier league clubs for their corporation and support in releasing their players to be with the national team.
“The morale is very high in our camp and all the players have shown nothing, but positivity throughout, which is something good for the incoming coach,” the Likuena coach said.
“I wish to also thank the clubs for their corporation and support in releasing the players to be with us from Monday to Wednesday every week.
“For those that are caring minor injuries, our physiotherapists are working together to assist such players to speed up the recovery process. We also thank the leadership of the Lesotho Football Association for all the support as the plan is to play several practice matches and a friendly game before our crucial games against Seychelles,” he said.
