Likuena coach Leslie Notši has called on his charges to give a big performance when they meet South Africa in a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier slated for Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday evening.

The two neighboring countries are separated by two points in Group C after four games with South Africa in second position with seven points while Lesotho are in fourth spot having grinded five points.

Notši is adamant his side will rise to the occasion in the same manner they did when they frustrated the star-studded Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, where the Super Eagles had to come from behind to salvage a draw.

Rwanda currently sits at the summit of table with seven points and will host Lesotho next week Tuesday after playing Nigeria in Kigali this Friday.

“I think this is a match that is highly anticipated by the supporters as you know we are neighboring countries and it’s not usual that we play against each other in big qualifiers like the World Cup,” Notši said.

“It’s a game that people are looking forward to and I believe it’s going to be a tough encounter playing one of the best countries in our region and continent as a whole.”

The Likuena coach says his charges will have to dig deep to cause upset against the Bafana Bafana side that has enjoyed good fortunes under Hugo Broos.

“They have some of the best talented players with one of the shrewd coaches around and I expect a tough encounter which I believe we have to dig deep to put a competitive game,” Notši said.

Lesotho arrived in Polokwane on Monday morning and held their first training session in the afternoon as Notši had access to all his 34-man squad following the arrival of the foreign based players.
