Rabale eyes second star with Sundowns
Lesotho women’s team captain Boitumelo Rabale has her eyes on winning her second CAF Women’s Champions League with Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of Sunday’s final with Sporting Casablance
Rabale scored the all-important solitary goal as Sundowns got their revenge on defending champions ASFAR of Morocco to reach their third successive final.
The Lesotho star has been impressive in the ongoing tournament in Ivory Coast and was rewarded with a place in the Best XI of the Group Stage.
The 27-year-old was part of the Sundowns squad that were crowned champions of the inaugural edition of the tournament two years ago, becoming the first player from Mountain Kingdom country to taste Champions League success.
“It was exciting to win the CAF Women’s Champions League with Sundowns two years ago, which was the first time for a player from Lesotho,” Rabale said.
“It boosted my confidence to continue working hard and strive for more success with the club”
Rabale admitted that memories of losing the last final to AS FAR still haunts them and is adamant they will make amends when they face Sporting Casablanca in the final on Sunday.
“We learnt the hard way when we lost in the final to AS FAR and we come back a better team having rectified our mistakes.
“It’s our dream to conquer the continent again and I have no doubt that we have what it takes to get our second star by the end of the tournament.
“It will be very good to add the second CAF Champions League medal to my trophy cabinet,” she said.
