Vodacom Premier League final day: Title race goes down to the wire
The curtain will come down to a very entertaining 2023/2024 Vodacom Premier League season as the title race goes down to the wire on the final day.
Lioli or Matlama will be crowned champions in Teyateyaneng as two of the biggest clubs in Lesotho renew their rivalry in the battle for the championship.
Tse Nala wade into the final day at the summit of the log table with 67 points and in need of just a point to win their sixth league title.
The Teyateyaneng based outfit are looking to end a seven-year drought having last won the championship during the 2015/16 season.
Tse Putsoa are in second position with 65 points and need nothing but a win to maintain their place as the most decorated team in the Kingdom of Lesotho with a record 12th league title.
Matlama’s last league title came during the 2021/2022 season, where they won the championship for the 11th time, opening a gap between themselves and LDF, who come second in the rankings of clubs with most league title in the country.
Defending Champions Bantu have nothing to play for on the final day as they are already guaranteed to finish in third place but a win over LMPS will take them to 60 points.
LMPS, who have had an impressive season under coach Tiisetso Molete are in competition with Linare for a fourth-place finish.
Linare welcome Manonyane in Maputsoe on the final day with Tse Tala looking to secure fourth position while Matlaka need the points to avoid the chop.
Naughty Boys at the bottom of the table with 10 points are already relegated to the A Division while Ace Maseru in second from bottom must cause an upset against LDF to beat the chop and hope both Manonyane and CCX lose their matches.
The race for the golden boot will also be decided on the final day with Limkokwing University striker, Lemohang Lintša leading the charts with 18 goals in his first ever season playing topflight football but has last season winner Jane Thabantšo and Tumelo Khutlang breathing down his neck with 17 and 16 goals respectively.
