Women Super League Preview: Kick4Life out to ruin LDF title celebrations
Kick4Life Ladies will be looking to ruin LDF’s Women Super League title celebrations on Thursday as the two teams go head-to-head at Bambatha Ts’ita Sports Arena.
LDF enjoy a nine-point advantage over Kick4Life with two games to go before the end of the current campaign and with the Army Ladies team already guaranteed their fourth Super League title in a row.
The Lengana Nkhethoa coached side have been ruthless through-out the campaign winning all their 16 matches played thus far and in the process scoring 103 goals while conceding just two goals.
However, Kick4Life have given a LDF a run for their money in the last four meetings between the two teams with each team registering two victories.
Kick4Life Coach Elizabeth Yelimala admitted that their games with LDF are always full of fireworks.
“Kick4life Ladies and LDF games are big. From the last four meetings, we have won two and they have won two and therefore, this is going to be tough once again,” Yelimala said
“We will go into this game well prepared, positive thinking, good combination and distribution from the middle, getting behind the ball when we lose it,accurate passing forward and the gaps and force them to make mistakes to capitalize on them. we know the intensity will be high but at the end of the day, there will be no regret.”
For his side, Nkhethoa stated that he is expecting a baptism of fire against the Kick4Life side that plays a similar style to theirs as they hope to finish the camping unbeaten.
“We know it’s going to be a tough challenge for us, but what I like is that their playing style is a bit similar to ours,” the LDF Ladies coach said.
“It’s the one match that we have to be at our best because they are a good side and they will punish us if we make mistakes. I’m looking forward to the battle in the field of play and hopefully, we will maintain our unbeaten run.”
LDF were rampant in the first round match between the two rivals registering a 4-0 victory.
The LeFA Technical Centre will be home to a triple header as the continent celebrates Africa Day, which will kickoff to a battle between LUCT Ladies against Sky Battalion before Kick4Life and LDF renew their rivalry at mid-day and the day will be closed by a match between FC Stoko VS Thaba Tseka Ladies.
Two other matches taking place on the day will play in Berea as Basetsana battle it out against Rovers while the home team, Berea Ladies welcome Bantu Ladies, in another potential explosive encounter.
