The Lesotho Football Association President Advocate Salemane Phafane (KC) has been elected to serve in the FIFA Governance, Audit and Compliance Committee by the 75th FIFA Congress held in Asunción, Paraguay.

The Election of the LeFA President in a new role effective from May 2025 to May 2029, comes as he had just concluded a Four-year term serving in the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.

In this election, Advocate Phafane got 186 votes from World Football leaders with only two countries voting against Advocate Phafane during the elections for the Governance, Audit and Compliance Committee.

The LeFA President performance on the local and international stage has always attracted and impressed international leaders the world over having served in different capacities at COSAFA, CAF and FIFA.

During the FIFA 71st Congress held Zurich, Advocate Phafane was again overwhelmingly elected to serve in the FIFA Disciplinary Committee following his excellent performance in football administration both locally and internationally.

According to article 49 of the FIFA Statutes, the FIFA Governance, Audit and Compliance Committee advises, assists and overseas the Council in monitoring FIFA’s Financial, Governance and Compliance matters and monitors compliance with the FIFA Governance Regulations.

Advocate Phafane headed the LeFA delegation that consisted of First Vice-President Matloko Mafantiri and Secretary General Mokhosi Mohapi at the 75th FIFA Congress in Asunción, Paraguay.
