JOINT MEDIA STATEMENT LESOTHO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION AND RADISOL GLOBAL INVESTMENTS ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO ACCELERATE THE COMMERCIALISATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF FOOTBALL IN LESOTHO

Maseru, Lesotho — The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) and Radisol Global Investments have entered into a strategic commercialisation and development partnership aimed at accelerating the growth, professionalisation and commercial sustainability of football in the Kingdom of Lesotho.

The partnership represents a significant step in LeFA’s ambition to unlock greater commercial value from football while strengthening the broader football ecosystem and creating sustainable opportunities for clubs, players, coaches, administrators, communities, commercial partners and other stakeholders.
Under the partnership, Radisol Global Investments will serve as a strategic commercial development and investment partner to LeFA, supporting the identification, development and mobilisation of commercial partnerships, sponsorships, investment opportunities and other revenue-generating initiatives across the football ecosystem.
The partnership will focus on transforming football’s substantial social, cultural and commercial value into sustainable economic opportunities while supporting the continued development and promotion of the sport in Lesotho.
LeFA remains the custodian of football in Lesotho
The partnership does not replace, interfere with or assume the football administration mandate of LeFA.
LeFA remains the recognised custodian and governing authority of football in Lesotho, with responsibility for the development, regulation, administration and promotion of the sport in accordance with its mandate, statutes, regulations and applicable football governance frameworks.
Radisol Global Investments’ role is specifically focused on commercialisation, investment development, strategic partnerships, revenue generation and commercial growth.
Commenting on the partnership, LeFA President Ntate Lijane Nthunya said:
“Football in Lesotho possesses enormous potential, not only as a sport but as an important social and economic platform. Our responsibility as LeFA is to continue developing, regulating and promoting football while creating an environment in which the game can grow sustainably. This partnership gives us an opportunity to strengthen the commercial foundations of our football and to attract new partners, investment and resources into the game.”
“We are particularly encouraged by the prospect of building stronger relationships between football and the private sector. We want sponsors and investors to see Lesotho football not simply as a sponsorship cost, but as a credible platform through which they can create meaningful commercial, social and developmental value. Radisol brings a commercial development capability that complements LeFA’s football governance and administration mandate.”
From sponsorship dependency to sustainable commercial value
The partnership will seek to move football in Lesotho towards a more structured and diversified commercial model.
Radisol Global Investments will work with LeFA to develop commercially viable opportunities across areas including:
– Strategic sponsorships and commercial partnerships
– Competition and tournament sponsorship
– Broadcasting and media opportunities
– Digital and content commercialisation
– Brand partnerships
– Corporate hospitality
– Licensing and merchandising
– Football-related investment opportunities
– Infrastructure and facilities development
– Youth and grassroots football development partnerships
– Women’s football commercial opportunities
– Community and social-impact programmes
– International commercial relationships
– Fan engagement and matchday commercialisation
– Data, technology and digital platforms
– Strategic investment into the broader football ecosystem
Radisol Global Investments Founder and President Sol Motsepe said the partnership represents an opportunity to reposition the way football is viewed by business and investment communities.
“Radisol sees football as much more than a sporting product. Football is an economic ecosystem, a media platform, a youth-development mechanism, a community asset and a powerful commercial property. Our role is to help LeFA unlock that value in a structured, credible and sustainable manner.”
“We are not coming into Lesotho to run football. LeFA will continue to lead, govern, regulate and administer football. Radisol will bring commercial expertise, investment thinking, corporate relationships and strategic market development to complement what LeFA already does. The objective is to build a stronger commercial engine around Lesotho football.”
Motsepe added that the partnership will be driven by a long-term approach rather than a short-term sponsorship mentality.
“Our ambition is to move the conversation from ‘Who will sponsor football?’ to ‘How do we build valuable football properties that businesses and investors want to participate in?’ That distinction is fundamental. We want to develop propositions that provide genuine value to commercial partners while simultaneously creating resources that can be reinvested into football development.”
Building commercially attractive football properties
A central component of the partnership will be the development of professionally structured commercial propositions around LeFA’s competitions, programmes, platforms and strategic initiatives.
Radisol will work with LeFA to package and position football properties in a manner that clearly communicates their audience reach, brand value, community impact, commercial opportunities and potential return on investment.
This will enable potential partners to engage with football through structured commercial packages rather than traditional sponsorship arrangements alone.
Radisol Global Investments Managing Director Puleng Magape said:
“The commercial opportunity lies in understanding that every football property has a different audience, purpose and value proposition. Our responsibility will be to work with LeFA to understand those properties, develop them commercially and take them to the right corporate and investment audiences.”
“We will build partnerships based on alignment. A telecommunications company, financial institution, hospitality group, beverage company, insurer, retailer or development partner should each be able to identify where its strategic objectives intersect with the objectives of Lesotho football.”
Magape said the partnership will also prioritise professional stakeholder engagement.
“We will be deliberate about how we approach the market. Commercialisation is not simply about asking companies for money. It is about understanding their business objectives, identifying shared value and constructing partnerships that can deliver measurable outcomes for both the partner and football.”
A LONG-TERM COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
The partnership will establish a structured commercial development programme that will include:
1. Commercial Asset Mapping
Radisol will work with LeFA to identify, catalogue and evaluate the commercial assets available across the football ecosystem.
2. Sponsorship and Partnership Development
LeFA’s competitions, programmes and initiatives will be developed into structured commercial propositions suitable for different categories of partners.
3. Investment Promotion
The partnership will identify opportunities where private-sector investment can contribute to football infrastructure, facilities, technology, youth development, women’s football and other strategic areas.
4. Corporate Engagement
Radisol will facilitate targeted engagement with potential corporate partners, investors and strategic stakeholders.
5. Media and Content Development
The partnership will explore opportunities to increase the commercial value of football through media, storytelling, digital content and audience engagement.
6. Commercial Governance
Commercial opportunities will be developed within appropriate governance, contractual and regulatory frameworks, with LeFA retaining its institutional mandate and authority.
7. Sustainable Revenue Development
The long-term objective will be to diversify and strengthen football’s revenue base rather than rely exclusively on traditional sponsorship.
FOOTBALL AS A NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM
Both organisations recognise the broader contribution football can make to Lesotho’s social and economic development.
Football provides opportunities for young people, creates employment and enterprise opportunities, supports community development, provides platforms for women and girls, creates media and entertainment opportunities and connects Lesotho to regional and international markets.
The partnership will therefore seek to ensure that commercial growth translates into meaningful football development.
Ntate Lijane Nthunya said:
“The ultimate measure of commercial success must be what it enables us to do for football. Increased commercial income must help us strengthen competitions, develop players and coaches, support women’s and youth football, improve infrastructure and create better opportunities for the people who participate in and support the game.”
A SHARED VISION FOR LESOTHO FOOTBALL
The partnership between LeFA and Radisol Global Investments is founded on a shared belief that Lesotho football can achieve significantly greater commercial and developmental impact.
The organisations will work towards a football ecosystem that is:
Professionally administered.
Commercially attractive.
Investment-ready.
Development-focused.
Socially impactful.
Sustainably financed.
Globally connected.
The partnership will also seek to position Lesotho football more strongly within the regional and international football economy by creating opportunities for strategic relationships beyond Lesotho’s borders.
Sol Motsepe said:
“Lesotho has a football story worth telling and a football asset worth developing. Radisol’s commitment is to help turn that potential into tangible commercial opportunities. We believe that, with the right strategy, governance and partnerships, Lesotho football can become an increasingly attractive platform for brands, investors and development partners.”
THE ROAD AHEAD
The partnership will commence with a structured programme of commercial asset identification, market development, stakeholder engagement and investment promotion.
LeFA and Radisol will jointly engage prospective commercial partners and stakeholders as opportunities are developed.
The organisations will also communicate key commercial initiatives, partnerships and developments as they are formally concluded.
Puleng Magape concluded:
“This is about building something that lasts. We want future generations of Basotho footballers, clubs, coaches, administrators and supporters to inherit a stronger football ecosystem than the one we have today. That requires vision, commercial discipline, strategic partnerships and execution. Radisol is committed to bringing those capabilities to this partnership.”
