Several national team stars plying their trade outside the country delivered strong performances for their clubs over the weekend.
Likuena captain Sekhoane Moerane made his first club start in months, keeping a clean sheet for Orbit College in a 0-0 draw with Marumo Gallants at DR Molemela Stadium.
Orbit teammate Lebohang Lesako also started, playing 73 minutes. Lesako has been in good form since scoring in Likuena’s 2-1 win over Seychelles and registered an assist last week in a 3-1 loss to Kaizer Chiefs.
In the Motsepe Championship, Motebang Sera made a second straight substitute appearance for Venda FC, coming on in the 62nd minute against Hungry Lions. Tswarelo Bereng started for Lions, who ran out 3-1 winners to claim all three points over his countryman.
Thabang Malane struck early for African Stars in Namibia, scoring in the 5th minute of a 4-1 win over KK Palace. Stars lead the Namibia Premier League by one point with two games left and are chasing back-to-back titles.
In Botswana, Teboho Letsema scored despite a 6-2 defeat to Gaborone United. Neo Mokhachane started for Jwaneng Galaxy in their 0-0 draw with Police XI. Township Rollers’ Lehlohonolo Fothoane remains sidelined with injury after missing Likuena’s recent Seychelles fixtures.
