LeFA DELIVERS KITS, FOOTBALLS AHEAD OF FIFA FOOTBALL FOR SCHOOLS ROLLOUT

The Lesotho Football Association has commenced the nationwide delivery of playing equipment in preparation for the official rollout of the FIFA Football for Schools programme on 28 August 2026.

The programme will be implemented across all 10 districts of Lesotho and is aimed at improving football activities in schools. It is expected to benefit both learners and the future of Lesotho’s national teams.

Through the FIFA Football for Schools project, each participating school will receive a full playing kit and 10 footballs. The programme. targets learners aged 6 to 13 years, a critical age group for grassroots football development.

Distribution is being conducted in three phases:

  1. Southern Region: Mafeteng, Mohale’s Hoek, Quthing, Qacha’s Nek
  2. Central Region: Maseru, Thaba-Tseka
  3. Northern Region: Berea, Leribe, Butha-Buthe, Mokhotlong

Speaking on the initiative, LeFA Grassroots and Youth Development Officer, Mr. Mojese Matamane said: “This delivery marks a major step in our commitment to grow football from the ground up. By equipping schools, we are creating access and opportunity for thousands of young Basotho to play, learn and dream.

“Football for Schools is not just about the game, it’s about education, health and unity.”
